Climate TrapInterdisciplinary unit of work forMiddle Years Students

Welcome to Climate Trap

The Climate Trap Unit of work is designed to be used for Middle Years students year 6 (level VELS and NSW and National Curriculum) the material and content can be tailored for other learning levels. I have tailored this unit to a year 6 class of mixed ability students with an enrolment of 24 students. Links and extension material has been included. This unit has natural links between science (environmental science), geography, english (literacy) and mathematics (numeracy) and also explores the arts. Cross-curricular learning involves using a central theme to apply knowledge in more than one discipline. This unit does not create clear distinctions between domains and uses an interdisciplinary approach that also uses transdisciplinary techniques. This unit has a variety of activities that utilise a variety of learning styles to investigate weather, climate and an introduction to climate change. The unit is targeted to year 6 students as they have the skills and background knowledge to complete the unit and yet they have the school structure to remove subject boundaries.
